I’m never much of an iPhone fan but I have heard of Siri. I didn’t pay much attention to the technology because this voice command technology has been around for ages (and I’m not really sure what are the pros of Siri). However, if Siri is really going to change how we interact with things, it’s going to be interesting; then I came across this article (Life in a Post-Siri World at TechNewsWorld). Although it didn’t discuss much on what are the benefits of Siri and how effective the technology is, I do agree with one statement quoted below

“I can imagine a coming problem, and that is annoying noise. Right now folks texting are pretty quiet — annoying, but quietly so. Folks talking on their phones are bad enough, but talking to everything could get really annoying really fast. ”

What’s your take on Siri?

Wise Target always advise our email marketing customer to NOT use a non-existence from email address such as donotreply@domain.com because we don’t want our customers campaign to look like a SPAM. If the customer, for some reasons, cannot provide us with a valid email address, we can provide one for them under a non-branded domain name.

In the gist, we don’t want to use do-not-reply address because we want our campaign to be a 2-way communication and it can also trigger some spam filter.

Facebook has just recently announce its new concept ‘timeline’ in which the look of all pages and profiles will be updated to reflect this new concept (see image here). This will force all business pages to update/redesign their page to go better with the new layout. Not only changes in its appearance, Facebook has also introduced a new metric, “People talking about,” that will soon have more weigh than the ‘like’ that businesses have been investing in getting them. Not only that, all Facebook applications from now on will need to run on HTTPS.

How will these updates effect business? First of all, they need to spend more money in getting the HTTPS and in developing a new look for their timeline. However, the new timeline is more favorable because it allows for better page branding. Secondly, the number of likes will not contribute to getting their messages broadcast as much as before; more weigh will be put on user interaction between the page. Only when user has consistently interact with the page, then messages from the page will be shown on the user’s feed. Lastly, they will need to rethink their tactics in integrating social media with their plans. Facebook is still pretty much influence by Vision of Mark Zuckerburg and he is an ambitious man and the fact that we dont know what will be his next move is, to me, is a risk.

Facebook should be use as a channel not as a media. It’s still evolving and I think we should develop a strong website then promote it via Facebook. We can use its function such as ‘like’, log-in with Facebook, and etc on our sites to take advantage of its vast user profiles to build our own customer profiles.

I have just came across a very interesting article on Clickz (Is Social Media Multitasking Worse Than Marijuana?) about multitasking. I believe many of us feel that to perform well in the work environment we NEED to multitask and I too believed so. However, after reading the article, which was cited with a few different researches, I am convinced that multitasking will reduce our quality of work. In a nutshell, the article states that multitasking is an interruption on the thought process and thus reducing our IQ on the tasks and can also have a negative impact on ourhealth!

And I thought I’m getting old….
